The Orange Hire team support Farmers on the Mid North Coast

Karl Mansley and the team from Orange Hire’s Central West branch have been working hard behind the scenes to support local farmers affected by the recent floods across NSW.

Karl Mansley and Charlie Woodbury from our Orange branch volunteered their time to work with the Rapid Relief Team, a global organisation dedicated to supporting communities in need. The Rapid Relief Team regularly carry out bulk donations of hay, sandbags, food and other essentials to farmers and communities in need.

Launched on the back of the success of Operation Drought Relief, a project called Farmers Community Connect (FCC) is designed to be a feel-good day for farmers to enjoy where they can connect with their local community, have a bite to eat and reach out to local service providers.

This has branched into a number of different events across flood-ravaged regions of NSW, and during May, Karl and Charlie joined a convoy of trucks to support farmers on the Mid North Coast who were doing it tough.

Delivering 1,379 bales of hay and silage from the Southern Highlands, volunteers working with the Rapid Relief Team offered support and practical help to flood-affected farmers on the Mid North Coast.

Over two huge days, the team donated much-needed hay to 135 flood affected farmers in Wingham and Kempsey. Karl notes that it’s incredibly rewarding to be involved in this initiative:

“It is a great privilege to be part of these events, and I’d like to thank the RRT Directors and their team for the immense efforts they put in to make these events run smoothly. I’d also like to thank each and every recipient for their support and kind words during these events, it really does make it all the more worthwhile!”
